Twin Sync Studio
Pricing FAQ

Do I need an iTwin license to use Twin Sync Studio?

No! You only might if you purchased the standalone edition, but if you get the pro edition subscription, you do not need an iTwin license. We connect to iTwin on your behalf.

I get 20GB/month of iModel Egress? What is that?

In practice, it is very difficult to reach this limit. It is in place in case of bad actors. Part of our cost structure has a limit on the size of .bim files you download and synchronize through Twin Sync Studio. If you reach this limit, we will reach out and try to help you not reach it in the future, and if you go significantly past the limit, your account may be frozen until the extra egress is paid for separately.

In simple terms, iModel egress is basically the amount of downloads you make of iTwin projects as.bim files and changeset updates when opening a connected iTwin that has updates.

Can I transfer a seat to a new device?

Yes, you can revoke a seat's device once per week, using the License > Revoke license and exit option at the top of the application. The corresponding seat will be freed instantly, but once you install it on a new device, you will need to wait at least a week before you can revoke that seat again and reinstall it again.

If you need help reallocating seats to new devices, please contact support.

What is the standalone edition?

The Standalone edition comes with iTwin login/download disabled unless you provide your own iTwin developer license. It has a limited support period of 12 months, and a limited update period of 4 months. This option lets you have your copy of the software indefinitely. It is also ideal for users that already have their own iTwin license or have their own process for getting .bim files.

After the update period, additional refreshes can be purchased per-device on-demand for $300 USD. It comes with an additional 3 month basic support period and 1 month update period.

How do refunds work?

You at any time are entitled to refund any unused whole months of prepaid subscription. So if you've paid for 12 months and used 3 months and 10 days have passed, you may ask to be refunded the 8 remaining months at the Pro edition montly rate.

Refunds of the standalone edition works on the basis of translating the cost of the standalone to months of the pro product. So since $900 is approximately 16 months of a basic subscription, if you wanted a refund after 5 months, you'd receive the remaining 11 months ($605) back.

What is basic support?

Basic support is answering simple questions by email within 5-7 business days, and fixing critical bugs within a reasonable time frame as determined by our analysis of the bug. Bugs with a workaround are not considered critical.

What is a critical bug?

Designation of a critical bug is at our sole discretion, and typically means an unavoidable output that has no workaround and produces significantly lower quality output by our discretion. If you are unsatisfied with the resolution of a critical bug, you may seek a refund of your unused months.

Can I buy the $15/month seats for my standalone license?

No. Seats are priced independently for the subscription-based Pro edition and perpetual standalone edition.
